Waiuta Gold Mining Ghost Town and Blackwater, Waiuta, West Coast, South Island, New Zealand

Gold was discovered at Waiuta in 1905. Now days the old community is a Ghost town with many mining relics. To get to Waiuta one needs to go through the old Blackwater township, then 17 kms to Waiuta. Very interesting location to visit with walks and relics to checkout, old buildings and caves to explore.
