Tuapiro Point is a small, sandy spit, across the channel from Tanners Point. Located at the end of the Tuapiro Road. A small pine plantation at the end of the spit which has walking tracks through it. RV/Caravan (Self Contained) parks and toilets are next to the plantation. The maximum stay here is three nights.
The tracks through the plantation are short, and for all fitness levels. A longer walk can be achieved by walking along the grass reserve on the waterfront.
The walk through the pine plantation to the end of the spit, and along the waterfront back to the parking area was about 2.8 km and takes about 45 minutes. Walking through the plantation is very pleasant, easy and picturesque.
We stayed three nights and enjoyed the open grounds, the beaches and the starry nights.
A lovely place to stop.
